Awakening Consciousness

Santosh Korthiwada is an award winning fine-art photographer and educator, who held an exhibition of his works titled ‘Consciousness’ at Goethe Zentrum recently. Speaking about his pictures, Santosh said that when you look at my picture do not try and decode what it is saying to you, instead try and decode what you want to say to yourself. “I cannot select any one photo out of this exhibition and call it a favourite, because I see all of them together as one picture,” he said.

The photographer said that consciousness for him is an unending, ever changing flow of imagination that never ceases to grow; with and without a singular answer. “With this photographic body of work, I confront a thought with an opposing thought that generates an intellectual friction. I juxtapose two unrelated visuals that create a new image in the viewers’ mind triggering an internal dialogue. The central theme that binds all the images together, apart from formal aesthetic, is a contemplation of fundamental existential phenomenon,” Santosh said.
